One random bit of bibliography for you: you drew attention to the discussion of in איש היה in 1:1. Hugh Williamson recently did the most thorough treatment I know of on this, &quot;Once upon a Time...?&quot;, in &lt;i&gt;Reflection and Refraction&lt;/i&gt;, ed. by R. Rezetko et al (Leiden: Brill, 2007), pp. 517-528. He comes to an interesting (I think!) conclusion.</description>
